Sick

Wow! So this week has been interesting. I got sick for the first time since treatment. Honestly, I'm surprised that I haven't been sick more often, due to remicade compromising my immune system and all. But it's like weird sick. Not sure if it's just because my body has so much going on, or if it's because I haven't been this kind of sick in a long time, but it feels weird. 

I had a sore throat that was only my upper throat and a bit of a stuffy nose. Honestly, I sounded like a man (and for a few minutes I was able to perfectly impersonate Batman). But that was it. Nothing more than that. But it was getting worse. And yesterday I woke up and it was hard to breathe and swallow, so off to the doctors I went. Anybody want to guess what they ordered while I was there? If you guessed lab work, you would be correct! More blood work... Of course. I mean, how else would they be able to be thorough if it weren't for sticking me with a needle every time I stepped foot in that place..... (It's getting to the point that the receptionists know me and don't even have to tell me where to go.) Okay, sorry, I am greatful they are thorough and making sure to rule out anything, I just am not a big fan of needles. The doctor was great, and she has a family member that is also on Remicade, so that was why she ordered so many tests (seriously it was somewhere around 14). She wanted to be sure she didn't overlook anything. 

So, as it turned out its inflammation of the throat and I am treating it currently with a z-pack. Needless to say I hope to kick this quickly and go back to enjoying my last couple of weeks before my next treatment.

Hi there, Life has been crazy. I mean absolutely and utterly insane. Nonstop hectic nonsense. I know everyone has had seasons like this in their life from time to time, so I am sure you know exactly what I mean. But unfortunately I tend to forget that I cant push it that hard. Dancing with spondylitis

Hi there! Okay so does anyone else get frustrated with their body? I'm not talking body image issues or anything of that sort. Nothing about how it looks and stuff. I'm talking about its limitations. Its literal physical abilities. What it will and will not do on command.  I am a part of a dance company, and I absolutely love it. I am beyond grateful that I am able to once again dance. It is one of my passions. And to be a dancer who also has spondylitis can have its challenges. I have been dancing since I was a little girl which also means I have been dancing since before I had any symptoms of spondylitis. I was flexible and knew what my body could do and pushed it past those limits on a daily basis. Key word being "was." Because nowadays, that flexibility is quite a bit less. To add to it, my flexibility is dependent on the day. One day, I may be able to touch my toes when I wake up, yet the next day, I am lucky to touch my shin or ankle.  That is unbeli...

How to: Vacation

Hi there, As you know, I recently got married. Along with having our beautiful wedding, we also had the opportunity to have a week long honeymoon. Yes, one whole week of vacation! I thought it fit to continue my "How to" series with sharing my first experience with a long vacation since I have gotten diagnosed.  We decided to honeymoon at Disneyland. And let me tell you, we absolutely loved it! Sounds silly, but we found it to be more practical to get annual passes so we could continue to enjoy it all year long (considering if we flew somewhere, an annual pass was the same price as a plane ticket to most places). We decided to stay a Best Western across the street from the entrance and I believe we both would stay there again in a heartbeat. There were so many great food options both at the park as well as near the hotel. I couldn't be more happy with our honeymoon. It was perfect for us.
